The David L. Hoyt Education Foundation, in partnership with the Chicago Public Library and Word Winder Inc. , is gearing up to set a Guinness World Record for the Largest Playable Word Winder Board. The record setting attempt is a part of the CPL's award winning "Rahm's Readers Summer Learning Challenge" and will feature kids from around Chicago. This year the theme for the summer program is Superheroes and what better way is there to show off your superpowers than by setting a World Record? In order to set the record we are arranging 20 sets of the GIANT Word Winder game in order to create one GIANT [Giant] Word Winder Board and play Word Winder Sprint! We will play several rounds until we narrow down our winner! The GIANT Word Winders which will be used during this event, and afterwards find home in various CPL branches, were purchased through the David L. Hoyt Education Foundation due to an extremely generous $9,500 donation from the Talking Rain Beverage Co. (the makers of Sparkling Ice). With their kind donation we are one step closer to our goal of securing a GIANT Word Winder for every CPL branch. The World Record-Setting Attempt will take place on Sunday, July 16 at the Harold Washington Library in the Winter Garden starting at 1:30 PM. There will be activities and entertainment stationed throughout the space, as well as the newly-renovated Children's Library. See the schedule below. I personally think that it has been the best idea to get education to the kids that are having some abilities. Kids always like prefer creative way to learn new things.
