Claire grew up in Green Bay, WI and found her path to the University of Illinois at Chicago where she obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Art History, in 2004. After working for a development corporation for two years, Claire moved to Los Angeles where she earned a Masters in Public Art Studies from the University of Southern California. After graduating, Claire and David moved back to Chicago where she began working as an operations and development manager for a non-profit working in Arts Education. Years later, when David created GIANT Word Winder, Claire saw the potential of the GIANT games and began working with David as an Outreach Coordinator of Word Winder Inc. In 2015, Claire and David created the David L. Hoyt Education Foundation together, because, they recognized an increasing need for Social Emotional Learning in young people and new they had a way to make learning fun. In her spare time, you will find Claire and David hanging out with their dog, Daisy, in Lincoln Square, or globe trotting to all the places on their bucket lists. Claire loves to hike, read, and cook. Recently, Claire became a mountaineer after summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in January of 2017 --a 19, 341 ft peak!
Ljiljana (Lilly) joined the David L. Hoyt Foundation in March of 2017 as we opened doors to our Center for Collaborative Learning. She graduated with a history degree from Elmhurst College in 2010, and since then has gained an MA in History from Eastern Illinois University and an MA in Public History- Museum Studies with a Nonprofit Management Certificate from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She has a great passion for learning, teaching, and museums; she’s spent a lot of time volunteering, interning, and working in nonprofits and museums throughout Chicago and Milwaukee pursuing her passions.
Ljiljana was born in the former Yugoslavia and immigrated to the United States in 2000, at the age of 12, along with her immediate family. She considers Chicago area as her home even though she has spent 3 years living in Milwaukee along with 2 years spent in Charleston, IL. In her free time Ljiljana likes to explore Chicago and hunt down street art which she documents on her social media pages. She also likes to spend as much time as possible with her twin nieces, Iskra and Klara.
