The David L. Hoyt Education Foundation provides programming and special events to Chicago Public Libraries during the Summer Learning Challenge and throughout the year. Chicago Public Library programs serve a wide population of Chicago families and children and are paid for in part by the Chicago Public Library Foundation. In 2017, the DLHEF helped the Chicago Public Library's Children's Services Department set a Guinness World Record with a 1600 square foot GIANT Word Winder game! Visit our Updates page for a list of libraries where you can find our giant games.
In addition to programming for schools and libraries, we have begun to leave a mark on our built environment through our Word Play Way projects. Our latest project, Word Play Way in Douglas Park, can be found in North Lawndale near the corner of Ogden and California. We've created activities for all ages to accompany the project that can be accessed here. Word Play Way can be customized to fit most school's or city's needs. If you are interested in painting a giant word search on a sidewalk on your schools property or in your neighborhood get in touch with us! We would be thrilled to partner with you on a project.
We have also developed curricula for David L. Hoyt's games along with certified educators. Teacher Manuals and Students Workbooks to help facilitate educational play with GIANT Math Winder and GIANT Word Winder are available for download. To request the manuals and workbooks, please email Claire Haasl.
