Doors will open at 10:30 and refreshments will be available. Programming will begin at 11:00 a.m. for in-person and online viewers. This year, Jumble celebrates its 65th anniversary! Since its creation in 1954, Jumble has become the most syndicated daily word game in the world, appearing in more than 600 publications in the U.S. and internationally. The event will be hosted in collaboration with current Jumble authors David L. Hoyt, “The Man Who Puzzles America,” and Jeff Knurek, an award-winning game inventor and cartoonist. “Jumble reaches millions of people each day, so it’s a pleasure to be able to connect directly with fans at live events,” said Hoyt. “Jeff and I are looking forward to sharing our Jumble stories with some of our Chicagoland Jumble solvers and are equally excited about including a national online audience in the fun this year.” In addition to meeting Jumble creators Hoyt and Knurek, attendees of the Jumble Symposium will have an opportunity to compete for the chance to have their Jumble idea published in newspapers by submitting it to organizers by May 3rd, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. CT. Of those submitted, 10 will be selected by Hoyt and Knurek. The favorite of those 10 Jumbles will be voted on by attendees both online and in-person during the event. The Jumble that receives the most votes will be created on-the-spot by Hoyt and Knurek.
